I love the above quote from Dr. Gail Dines. It’s so true. How much money have you wasted on beating your body into submission, to make it look the way it’s “supposed” to, whether it be from dieting to personal trainers to expensive treatments. I know I’ve dropped thousands upon thousands.

Isn’t time we stopped ? Why are we feeding these industries? If we all just refused to go and simply loved our bodies how much happier would we be? I will tell you, a lot happier.

Loving your body doesn’t mean you get to eat whatever you want because you “love” your body. No, it means taking care of yourself and your health. Over eating and binging on fattening foods just brings on self loathing and shame.

All I’m eating now is protein (chicken and fish and no red meat), cooked veggies and fruit. I’m not eating this to lose weight I’m eating this way for my health. I have Lupus and the diet that I’m on helps lower inflammation in my body. I can tell you that by eating this way my body is pretty happy. I also do accupuncture and drink herbs from my accupuncurist.

By doing all of these things my Lupus markers are down…way down! I used to have a lot of inflammation in my blood as well as high antibodies. Those markers were either normal or just a little big high. I thought I was going to have to go on medication but my Doctor said it wasn’t necessary, that I should just keep doing what I’m doing.

It’s also important when you love your body to go to the doctor. Don’t just ignore physical ailments to see if they will go away. Go see a doctor (Eastern and Western doctors) even when you think you might be a head case. Had I gone to the doctor earlier when I was younger and having health issues that looked like autoimmune disease, I would have gotten the Lupus diagnosis earlier.

So if you want to increase your self worth, start by loving by body and treating it with the kindness and care it deserves.
