THE SELF WORTH DIET – Because Low Self Esteem Is Fattening

Kirstie Alley and Jenny Craig Belong Together (and Not In A Good Way)

I found it very fitting that Kirstie Alley recently rejoined Jenny Craig to lose 30 pounds. I don’t know Kirstie, nor do I wish badly on her, but I do question her integrity. Why? Because Kirstie is being sued for her own diet program, named the Organic Liaison Program. Jenny Craig is no stranger to law suits either. They have countless suits against them (including one class action of 360,000 people) from clients claiming gallbladder disease. Kirstie and Jenny Craig kinda belong together.

I remember when I first signed up for Jenny Craig my counselor asked me in a off handed, but slightly concerned way, “does anyone in your family have any gallbladder issues?” I was confused by the question. “Why are you asking me that?” I asked. She told me, “well some people have problems with their gallbladders on the diet. But you’ll be fine.” She said reassuringly. Her words 10 months later were haunting me as I was wheeled into emergency surgery to take out my gallbladder that had over 1,000 stones. I was really ill and yellow because the stones were cutting off the ducts to my pancreas, small intestine and liver.

I have to tell you, I have not been the same since the emergency surgery. I’ve had a series of health problems since; not to mention my body can’t handle any fat so I shit myself on a regular basis. So sexy, I know. What bothered me the most about this exchange with my counselor is that Jenny Craig was obviously well aware of the gallbladder issues on their diet but neglected to do anything about it. I believe this is extremely dishonest. As many of you know already, I did sue Jenny Craig but dropped the case in favor of writing about it and getting the word out there. I work at a law firm, I know litigation prohibits you from talking about the case. I felt I could be a more effective agent for change by starting this blog.

Kirstie, like Jenny Craig, never admitted to any wrong doing or even changed their diets. In the suit against Kirstie Alley’s Organic Liaison Program, Marian Abramyan claims Kirstie Alley used deceptive before and after pictures to push her supplement diet. “Ms. Alley’s weight loss is not due to the Organic Liaison Program, but rather, is the result of an above average exercise regimen and extremely low calorie diet, including her time on the television program “Dancing With The Stars” where she spent five to seven hours a day exercising as part of the competition,” the suit claimed. Abramyan also claims the supplements aren’t USDA approved.

“In peddling the Organic Liaison Program, Ms. Alley attributes her weight loss to the program, but in reality, Ms. Alley’s weight loss is due to nothing more than the tried and true concept of diet and exercise,” the complaint states. “It is commonly known, and indeed a scientific fact, that if you are increasing exercise while decreasing caloric intake, you will lose weight. There is no magic pill or supplement that causes weight loss.” Abramyan also said she purchased the products but “did not lose any weight or experience any of the advertised benefits of the program.”

I don’t think my suit plus the many others against Jenny Craig along with Abramyan’s suit against Kirstie Alley are frivolous in any way. In my opinion there is obviously a massive problem with deceptive and corrupt practices of the dieting industry that has been going on for too long now.   It’s about time someone stands up and does something. I’m hoping you all will join me in my fight against the dishonest practices of the dieting industry. You can call me the Erin Brockovich of gallbladders.
